Soil survey of basaltic land near Pittsworth, South East Queensland - ASA

This publication set is a soil survey of part of the Linthorpe and Ashall Creek catchments in the eastern Darling Downs, South East Queensland. The study area covers part of the Pittsworth (9242-4) 1:50,000 mapsheet. Approximately 4,600 hectares of land were mapped into soil associations at 1:25,000 scale. The survey focused on basalt soils supporting predominantly softwood scrub and layered open forest, comparing them with those supporting grassy open forest and open woodland vegetation in the surrounding basaltic uplands region. Nearly 300 sites were assessed using the grid survey method and 15 soil associations were identified.
