RBDM Change of name policy

The purpose of this policy is to outline the processes, and legislative and policy considerations, in relation to the registration of name changes under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 2003.

This policy addresses:

• eligibility and the limits on the number of name changes a person may seek
• the information required to support an application
• other requirements that may apply for change of name applications
• assessment of whether a name change application must be refused.
