Mealtime Support Resources

The Mealtime Support Resources provide practical information on good mealtime support for people with a disability who experience swallowing difficulty (dysphagia). These resources provide general information to assist in safe, enjoyable mealtimes for everyone. Topics include signs of swallowing difficulties, signs of choking, strategies to reduce the risk of choking and aspiration, modified food textures, thickened drinks, important support strategies, mealtime body positioning, adapted equipment, and related health topics such as oral health, nutrition and reflux. Template examples are provided for a Mealtime Support Plan. If you suspect someone has a swallowing difficulty, always seek specialist assessment and advice.
