Invasive plants (weeds) — pest risk assessments

We produce pest risk assessments to:

  • increase understanding of key invasive plants and animals in Queensland
  • provide an objective, evidence-based foundation for policy development
  • support the prioritisation of thousands of candidate species using an evidence-based approach
  • examine the potential impact of a species based on proven track-record as a major pest overseas in similar climate and habitats.

Pest risk assessments use information from a range of sources to examine aspects of the pest species or group. These reviews help to decide on management of invasive plants and animals in Queensland.
