Foster and kinship carer handbook (Word)

As a foster or kinship carer, you undertake one of the most important roles in our community — providing a secure, caring environment for children and young people and building their self-confidence to help them fulfil their potential. To better support you, we have established a website for existing foster and kinship carers to replace the handbook. You can visit the site at

Without you, the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women could not provide quality care to more than 9,000 children in need of out-of-home care in Queensland.

This page includes a link to an archive version of the foster and kinship carer handbook.

Thank you for your commitment and dedication to the children and young people of Queensland, whose lives are enriched through your care.
