This report presents the results of a palaeoecological study of a sediment core taken from an ephemeral wetland near Connors River in Central Queensland. The core, made up of fine sediments with plant roots and organic material, spans approximately 2000 years of environmental history, as determined by radiocarbon dating. Charcoal and pollen analyses reveal shifts in fire activity over time—from moderate to high, then low levels—while the vegetation has remained relatively stable.
